I met Casey Nelson through Mary Shanley.  He was playing in an indie rock band at the time and while I liked him immediately, it never really crossed my mind to work with him on anything.  As Casey, Mary and I stood around talking about Microscopic Life I asked Casey if I could feature his band in the show.  The band was no longer together but he expressed an intense interest in creating custom music for each episode.  I was skeptical as I didn’t know how I’d use indie rock in each episode but I quickly learned that Casey is a musician with an incredible range.  No matter what I ask him for, he is able to write it, perform it, and exceed my expectations.
